How is futures profit and loss calculated on TradeZero America?

Futures P&L in real time in TZ1.

The calculation is: price move in points × contract multiplier × number of contracts.

The E-mini S&P 500 (ES) has a multiplier of $50 per point and a minimum tick of 0.25 points, or $12.50. A 10-point move on one ES contract is $500, a gain if the market moves your way, a loss of the same size if it moves against you.

The Micro E-mini S&P 500 (MES) is one-tenth the size, with a multiplier of $5 per point and a tick value of $1.25. The same 10-point move is $50.

Because futures are leveraged, P&L is calculated on the full contract value, not on the margin you posted. ES intraday margin is $500 and MES is $50 – so in both examples above, a 10-point move equals the entire amount you put up to open the position. That is what makes small moves in the underlying produce large moves in your account.

P&L shown in TZ1 is before commissions and fees.
