Margin policy & position management
Intraday margin rates are effective from the product open until 15 minutes prior to the session close, when initial margin is required. Initial margins are set by the exchange and represent the amount required to hold a position into the next trading session. Accounts that do not meet margin requirements are subject to liquidation and applicable fees. Please Note: Our clearing firm team evaluates market conditions in real time and reserves the right to adjust intraday margins in accordance with market volatility. If required, temporary changes to the amount of margin required for trading may be made without prior notification.
Intraday margins may be set to 4X our standard rates at least 15 minutes prior to the release of key economic news announcements, as listed in your account dashboard, for any and/or all products. The temporary elevated margin requirements will remain in place following the announcement once market volatility is determined to present manageable risk for our traders. Please be aware these elevated margin rates apply only when entering a new position, which may present significant risk to the account.
If an account does not meet the margin requirement at all times during the trade, the entire position may be liquidated and closed. An e-mail will be sent notifying the account owner of the violation. The 1st violation will result in a $25 execution fee, and subsequent violations will result in a $50 execution fee.
Trading in physically deliverable futures contracts is prohibited beginning on the business day preceding the earlier of the Last Trade Date or the 1st Notice Date through the Last Trade Date. Any account that has a position or places an order after this roll date is subject to liquidation and associated fees. Click here to learn more.

TradeZero America offers access to selected CME Group futures across currencies, energies, metals, E-mini equity indices, and Micro E-mini equity indices.
To open a futures account, first open a TradeZero America equity account, with margin trading enabled. Then enroll for futures trading in the client portal.
Futures trading is currently only available on our TZ1 platform.
The minimum to fund a TradeZero America futures account is $100. You'll also need enough to meet the margin requirements for the contracts you trade, which vary by contract and can change.
Margin depends on the contract. Each contract has three requirements:
1. Intraday margin; which applies to positions opened and closed within the same session.2. Initial margin; required from 4:45 pm ET to hold a position into the next session
3. Maintenance margin; which applies to positions held longer than one day
Margins are set per contract and can change. If your account falls below the requirement, your positions may be liquidated.You can trade futures at TradeZero America 23 hours a day, from Sunday 6:00 PM ET to Friday 5:00 PM ET, with a daily maintenance break from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM ET.
