Stock futures head lower after S&P 500 ends three-day win streak

Stock futures fell early Thursday after the S&P 500 saw its first negative session in four, pressured by a slide in Boeing shares following a crash in India.S&P 500 futures lost nearly 0.6%, while Nasdaq 100 futures were down 0.5%. Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average were also lower by 284 points, or 0.7%.

Dow component Boeing lost more than 7% in premarket trading after an Air India Dreamliner 787 crashed after takeoff with 242 passengers on board. The cause of the crash is unknown, and authorities said the injured are being treated. Shares of Oracle surged more than 7% after the company reported fiscal fourth-quarter results that beat on the top and bottom lines and indicated more cloud growth ahead. Wednesday marked a losing session on Wall Street, with the S&P 500 snapping its three-day win streak, as did the Nasdaq Composite. CNBC reports.

✈️ Boeing shares fall 8% after Air India plane crashes: Shares of planemaker Boeing fell 8% in premarket U.S. trading on Thursday after an Air India aircraft with 242 people crashed minutes after taking off from India's western city of Ahmedabad.

Aviation tracking site Flightradar24 said the plane was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, one of the most modern passenger aircraft in service. The plane was headed to Gatwick Airport in the UK, Air India said, while police officers said it crashed in a civilian area near the airport, without specifying whether there were any fatalities. “Our technology is a generation ahead of theirs,” Huang told CNBC at the sidelines of the Viva Technology conference in Paris. However, he warned that: “If the United States doesn’t want to partake, participate in China, Huawei has got China covered, and Huawei has got everybody else covered.” CNBC reports.

🔔 Chime set for long-awaited market debut after $864 million US IPO: Chime is set to debut on the Nasdaq later on Thursday after raising $864 million in its initial public offering, with investors waiting to see whether the digital bank will maintain the recent streak of explosive first-day gains for new listings.

The hotly anticipated debut is being viewed as a bellwether for other IPO candidates in the fintech industry, where valuations have cooled from pandemic-era highs. "A strong debut could trigger a domino effect, prompting other high-growth firms to accelerate their IPO timelines and position themselves for a window that's starting to reopen," said Kat Liu, vice president at IPOX. 💲Dollar hits fresh 2025 low as US tariff concerns pick up again: The dollar extended its decline as worries over US tariffs increased after President Donald Trump said he would notify trading partners soon of unilateral levies. The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index slid as much as 0.6% to the lowest level since July 2023 on Thursday, extending the previous day’s drop spurred by softer US inflation data. The euro rose to its strongest since November 2021.

Traders will be monitoring US producer-price data due later Thursday for confirmation of subdued pressures. Some of its components feed into core personal consumption expenditure, the Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of inflation. They will also watch an auction of 30-year Treasuries after yields surged last month on fiscal concerns. Yahoo Finance reports.
