The closely watched U.S. jobs report is scheduled for release Friday at 8:30 a.m. ET, concluding a week that has already shown signs of resilience in the labor market.
Economists surveyed by Bloomberg expect nonfarm payrolls to increase by 85,000 in May, while the unemployment rate is projected to remain unchanged at 4.3%.
If forecasts prove accurate, it would mark a third consecutive month of job gains, something the labor market has not achieved since last summer.
Earlier this week, ADP reported that private employers added 122,000 jobs in May, with hiring occurring across eight of the ten sectors it tracks.
Meanwhile, U.S. job openings rose sharply to 7.62 million in April, indicating continued demand for workers despite broader economic uncertainties. Yahoo Finance reports.
🔐 Zcash crashes up to 50% in 2 days after AI exposes critical vulnerability
Zcash fell as much as 50% over two days after researchers disclosed a critical vulnerability that could have allowed the creation of undetectable counterfeit ZEC tokens.
According to Shielded Labs, security engineer Taylor Hornby discovered the flaw on May 29 with assistance from Anthropic's Opus 4.8 AI model and immediately notified engineers at the Zcash Open Development Lab.
The vulnerability affected Zcash's Orchard circuit and made it possible to mint unlimited counterfeit ZEC that would remain undetectable within the shielded pool.
Shielded Labs stated that a complete exploit was successfully demonstrated in a local test environment.
The bug had existed since Orchard was activated in May 2022 and was patched on June 1. Benzinga reports.
🔋 Solidion reports patented breakthrough in lithium metal battery technology
Solidion announced a patented breakthrough in lithium metal battery technology that it says addresses key obstacles preventing the large-scale commercialization of lithium-sulfur, lithium-air, and anodeless lithium metal batteries.
According to the company, the technology is designed to support power storage applications for satellites, low-Earth orbit AI data centers, crewed spacecraft, and future lunar infrastructure.
The lithium metal anode protection platform aims to overcome three major technical challenges: continued reactions between the electrolyte and lithium metal, lithium dendrite formation that can cause internal short circuits and thermal runaway, and gaps between the lithium metal layer and solid-state electrolyte that can reduce battery performance. TipRanks reports.
💽 Micron shares tumble as $94 billion loss hits AI memory trade
Micron Technology slipped again in Friday's premarket trading after a sharp decline during the previous session.
The memory-chip maker, one of the key beneficiaries of the AI-driven market rally, came under pressure as investors reassessed valuations across the semiconductor sector.
According to MarketWatch, citing Dow Jones Market Data, Micron's 7.7% decline erased approximately $94.24 billion in market value.
The stock's weakness highlights the volatility that can accompany high-growth AI-related names, even as demand for memory and data center products remains a major market theme. TechStock² reports.
🔋 Why Solidion Technology shares are rallying over 50%
Shares of Solidion Technology surged 50.55% to $34.19 in pre-market trading on Friday.
The company announced its patented Generation Extreme-Climate Battery (Gen-ECB) platform.
The battery technology is designed to operate in extreme temperatures ranging from −80°C to +60°C and is intended for space applications, among other use cases. Benzinga reports.
🏗️ Why is Keel Infrastructure stock falling Friday?
Keel Infrastructure shares fell in Friday premarket trading after the company announced a significantly upsized convertible debt offering.
Investors reacted to concerns about the company's funding needs as it continues its transition toward AI and data-center infrastructure.
The offering also raised concerns about potential shareholder dilution, a common risk associated with convertible debt financings.
The move comes as investors evaluate the capital requirements needed to support Keel's ongoing transformation and expansion plans. Benzinga reports.
