Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq futures pause rally after Iran says ceasefire has been broken

US stock futures fell on Thursday, backing off from a powerful rally driven by the US-Iran truce as the one-day-old ceasefire appeared increasingly fragile ahead of planned talks.

Dow Jones Industrial Average futures dropped roughly 0.4%, after the blue-chip benchmark closed out Wednesday over 1,300 points higher on the prospect of a reopening of the key Strait of Hormuz.

Contracts on the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100 retreated 0.4% and 0.3%, respectively.

The two-week pause in Middle East hostilities agreed by the US and Iran looks be in jeopardy.

Both sides have accused the other of breaching the agreement, which hinges on a key condition: that Tehran reopens the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global oil shipping route that has been shut for weeks amid the conflict. Yahoo Finance reports.

💻 Intel’s stock soars to a five-year high. This is what’s driving its massive momentum

A combination of broad market momentum and excitement over recent business developments has pushed Intel’s stock to levels not seen in five years.

Shares of the chip company closed up 11.4% on Wednesday with a performance that was the second best among all the S&P 500 components on a strong day for the market.

The cease-fire agreement with Iran broadly boosted stocks, and shares of artificial-intelligence hardware companies saw especially strong gains as investors rotated back into riskier assets. MarketWatch reports.

💻 Google’s AI lead is growing in this key area. That’s good news for Alphabet’s stock

Coming off of Google’s renewed chip deal with Broadcom, an analyst is highlighting just how much semiconductors serve as an advantage to Alphabet.

The artificial-intelligence race depends on having compute power to build and run increasingly complex models, and that’s driving an intense competition for chips.

And the fact that Google has its own silicon could give it an edge over its AI rivals, according to Needham analyst Laura Martin. MarketWatch reports.

💻 Amazon cloud unit's AI revenue run rate exceeds $15 billion in first quarter, CEO says

Amazon.com said on Thursday its cloud business's AI revenue run rate was more than $15 billion in the first quarter of 2026, the company's first disclosure of direct financial returns from its artificial intelligence efforts.

The numbers are also "ascending rapidly", Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said in a letter to shareholders, adding that its cloud business as a whole would be growing even faster without the capacity constraints that the tech industry is currently facing.

Jassy also said the annual revenue run rate for Amazon's chips business, which produces its Graviton and Trainium processors, is now over $20 billion, doubling from the $10 billion milestone the company reported earlier this year. Yahoo Finance reports.

✈️ Delta knows people will simply grit their teeth and pay more

Delta's play for premium seating has proven so successful that it's leading the industry in profits, taking a key trait of the country's K-shaped economy and fashioning it into a business model.

For the first time in more than a year, Delta recorded positive unit revenue growth in the main economy cabin.

Sure, premium tickets, corporate trips, and loyalty rewards are driving most of the expansion.

But even as airlines have jacked up fares and upped the baggage up-charging to offset rising fuel costs tied to the Iran war, CEO Ed Bastian said there's "broad strength across customer segments, geographies, and products." Yahoo Finance reports.
