US stock futures moved higher on Tuesday as investors weighed new trade measures against Canada and Iran, upcoming Nvidia earnings, and expectations for Kevin Warsh’s first Jackson Hole speech as Fed chair.
Dow Jones Industrial Average futures edged 0.4% higher, while S&P 500 futures gained 0.5%. Nasdaq-100 futures rose 1%, recovering from Monday’s tech-led declines.
While US futures pointed higher, Asian stocks broadly fell after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced new sanctions on Iran and Nvidia recorded its seventh consecutive daily loss.
Bitcoin, meanwhile, surged above $80,000 for the first time in three months after the Treasury’s intervention in the bond market revived concerns about dollar debasement, prompting investors to turn to alternative assets. Gold has also rallied in recent days but took a breather on Tuesday.
The latest economic data on new home sales, ADP’s weekly employment change, and manufacturing activity is scheduled for release on Tuesday, ahead of Wednesday’s PCE inflation reading. The data will provide further insight into current economic conditions and set the stage for the Federal Reserve’s Jackson Hole Symposium later this week, where Fed Chair Kevin Warsh is expected to deliver a speech.
Intuit and Zoom Communications will provide key insights into the software sector when they report earnings on Tuesday, while DICK’s Sporting Goods will offer a closer look at the retail sector. Yahoo Finance reports.
