Akamai Technologies’ stock jumped in pre-market trading on Friday after the company agreed to provide cloud-computing services to Anthropic in a deal valued at $12 billion.
Under the agreement, Anthropic will pay $11.6 billion over seven years to use CPU capacity from Akamai Cloud’s distributed AI infrastructure and software. The companies also have the option to expand the agreement by an additional $9 billion in revenue.
As part of the deal, Anthropic will receive warrants allowing it to purchase up to 5% of Akamai’s outstanding shares at an exercise price of $111.33.
The deal requires Akamai to make upfront investments before the Anthropic money starts rolling in.
Akamai expects no revenue this year, approximately $150 million to $300 million in 2027, and a continued ramp higher to reach $1.7 billion per year.
That will require $5.5 billion in capital expenditure, including $1.7 billion this year. MarketWatch reports.

🧊 US-Greenland Security Deal Opens Door to American Investment
Greenland’s new security agreement with the US could unlock increased American investment on the Arctic island, potentially supporting an economy that remains heavily dependent on subsidies and fishing.
The agreement includes two new US military bases and states that US contracts should go to local businesses “to the maximum extent possible.” This could create new opportunities for Greenlandic companies in infrastructure, logistics, and related services, while helping establish defense as a larger part of the local economy.
