US stock futures traded mixed on Monday ahead of an action-packed week featuring Nvidia earnings and the Federal Reserve's Jackson Hole Symposium. The Trump administration is also expected to announce details of new economic sanctions against Iran.
Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average edged into the red, while those on the S&P 500 and tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite slipped 0.2% and 0.5%, respectively, after the major indexes posted weekly declines.
Stocks churned as the Trump administration vowed to wage an economic war with Iran. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is expected to share more details of the pressure campaign at a press conference on Monday afternoon. He wrote in a Financial Times op-ed over the weekend that the measures will constitute "an economic D-Day — the single greatest financial offensive ever marshalled against an adversary."
The shift in the US approach to the Middle East standoff comes after US-Canada trade talks broke down over the weekend, and the US imposed new tariffs on Canadian goods. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney suspended negotiations and vowed to retaliate with like-for-like tariffs.
Meanwhile, attention is shifting toward Nvidia, whose earnings report on Wednesday could be a pivotal moment for the artificial intelligence story that has powered the stock market and set a high bar for the AI chip king. Yahoo Finance reports.

💼 Nvidia Earnings And Jackson Hole: What To Watch This Week
Investors face another busy week, with Nvidia earnings, key inflation data, the Jackson Hole Symposium, and the Trump administration’s expected economic measures against Iran all in focus.

Several major retailers, including DICK'S Sporting Goods, Five Below, Urban Outfitters, Bath & Body Works, Ulta Beauty, Dollar General, and Dollar Tree, will also report results, providing further insight into consumer spending trends.
On the economic front, investors will watch consumer confidence data and the Fed’s preferred inflation gauge, the PCE price index, for clues about the central bank’s next policy decision in September. The University of Michigan’s consumer surveys will round out the week. Yahoo Finance reports.
🧩 Nvidia Discusses Perplexity Investment At $30 Billion-Plus Valuation
Nvidia is reportedly in talks to invest in Perplexity as part of an equity funding round that would value the AI startup at more than $30 billion, according to The Information. The new valuation would represent an increase of more than 50% from Perplexity’s previous financing round.
Perplexity’s annualized revenue has reportedly climbed to more than $750 million, up from less than $250 million at the start of the year. Part of the growth has been attributed to Perplexity Computer, a cloud-based AI agent designed to help professionals automate computer-based tasks.
Perplexity declined to comment on the report, while Nvidia did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Perplexity was valued at $20 billion last year and has also reportedly signed a $750 million agreement with Microsoft to use its Azure cloud services. The company is planning to go public in 2028, according to CEO Aravind Srinivas. Yahoo Finance reports.
