US stock futures diverged on Thursday morning as a rally in oil prices took a breather and investors awaited wholesale inflation data and Oracle earnings.
Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.1%, while those on the S&P 500 added 0.1%. Contracts for the Nasdaq-100, meanwhile, slipped 0.1%.
Stocks have cooled this week as oil prices topped $100 per barrel, a move that has helped support rising Treasury yields. The 10-year yield hit a three-year high on Wednesday after the Treasury Department announced it would buy up to $6 billion in longer-term debt.
President Trump said Wednesday that oil prices may not come down until after the midterm elections, which are two months away. The ongoing US-Iran war and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have raised concerns that an energy shock could feed into broader inflation and all but force the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates.
On Thursday, wholesale inflation data will provide a look at the prices producers are paying, setting the stage for the government's consumer inflation report, due out Friday. Economists expect the Producer Price Index to increase 0.3% year over year.
Investors are also considering a proposal Trump floated in Dallas on Wednesday to send every American adult a $5,000 check if Republicans retain control of Congress in the midterm elections. It is not clear how Trump would implement such a costly measure, as Congress would need to approve it.
After the bell, Oracle is expected to report earnings, offering a reality check on AI capital expenditures and demand. Yahoo Finance reports.
🧪 AEON Announces Positive Results Supporting Comparability of ABP-450 to BOTOX. Stock Up in Pre-Market
AEON Biopharma announced positive results from a pilot forced degradation study comparing its ABP-450 biosimilar candidate with BOTOX® under thermal and oxidative stress conditions.
Under thermal stress, both products lost potency at comparable rates, while oxidative stress testing showed similar dose-dependent changes at methionine sites. The findings provide additional analytical evidence supporting structural comparability between ABP-450 and BOTOX®.
The pilot study was not designed for formal statistical comparison. AEON said definitive conclusions will depend on its planned multi-lot comparability study. GlobeNewswire reports.

🧠 Huawei Lifted Prices for Its Best AI Chip By 60% This Summer
Huawei has raised the suggested price of its Ascend 950DT AI accelerator by roughly 60% over the past three months to 250,000 yuan ($37,300) per unit, as demand continues to outpace supply during the data center boom.
The price increase reflects growing demand for Chinese alternatives to Nvidia chips. DeepSeek reportedly plans to deploy at least 160,000 of Huawei’s top-end accelerators in a major data center project in Inner Mongolia.
Huawei is also facing production constraints, particularly due to limited supplies of high-bandwidth memory, which are pushing up costs. The company is prioritizing deliveries to large Chinese technology companies and AI infrastructure developers. Yahoo Finance reports.
🛢️ Brent Holds Above $100 as Tanker Attacks Dampen Hopes for Hormuz Traffic Recovery
Oil prices rose on Thursday, extending gains that pushed Brent above $100 a barrel in the previous session, as traders prepared for deeper supply disruptions following intensified attacks on shipping by Iran and the United States.
Brent crude futures rose 0.4% to $101.61 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude gained 0.51% to $96.54.
Brent prices have surged nearly 30% from their early-August lows after a permanent U.S.-Iran ceasefire agreement failed to materialize and fighting resumed later in the month. Yahoo Finance reports.
